Which do you Recommend?
San Clemente Surf camps are a great way to learn to surf while meeting a lot of fun people. Most surf camps cater to the teens (12-19 year old range) but some teach adults as well or even exclusively.
If you have never set foot on a surfboard before, I highly recommend you take at least one lesson before spending the money on a 3-6 week intensive camp.
You may find it was a really glamorous idea in the movie that inspired you but in reality it is hard work that takes a certain amount of commitment.
There are many Surf Camps in San Clemente. It seems every summer some have gone out of business and new ones have started up in their place.
San-Clemente-Beaches.com does not yet endorse any one particular camp over another. I plan to check them out personally before making any judgments.
