Hiking In San Clemente
TALEGA REGIONAL TRAILThe Talega Trail, formerly the Prima Deshecha Trail was renamed when the Talega Development was constructed. The Trail provides bike, hike, and equestrian access. The view varies from amazing natural back country to boring residential and commercial complexes. There is a portion where you have to cross Avenida Pico and it is tough to get back on the trail. Just make sure you head behind the commercial complex on the corner of La Pata and Pico to stay on the trail. In the future this trail is being extended from the San Diego County Border at San Onofre State Park through San Clemente and into the San Juan Trails. Point of Interest: When you pass the golf course check out the sand traps, at this course they are made completely of finely crushed white marble. Extravagant! DIRECTIONS : From I-5 take Avenida Pico east all the way to the end where it turns into a two lane road. The trail head is on the right at the Ave Pico/Camino La Pedriza intersection, usually with a car or two parked in front of it. There is a little wooden fence lining the trail and a small sign. The Cristianitos trailhead is on the left side of the street.
