San Clemente Hiking
CHRISTIANITOS REGIONAL TRAILOkay, folks. This is hiking. The Cristianitos Regional Trail borders Camp Pendleton and the Mission Viejo Land Conservancy. On this trek you get actual California Wilderness with native oak and wildlife. This trail allows access to bikes, hikers, and horses. This is all uphill and then all downhill. It may seem like it ends at the water tower but go behind where it continues up steep switchbacks. The developed trail ends a little ways after that but there are undeveloped single tracks everywhere indicating the need for the future regional trail that will link San Clemente’s hiking trails to the more developed trails of San Juan. The big plan is that the Prima Desheche trail and the Christianos Regional Trail are going to be connected in the back country to form a big 6 mile loop. We’ll keep you posted. DIRECTIONS: From I-5 take Avenida Pico inland all the way to the corner of Ave Pico and Camino La Pedriza where it turns into a small two lane road. On the left will be the Talega Regional Trail Head, not to be confused with the Cristianitos Trail Head which is on the right. For other trails click on links below:
